Always Moving Forward

It’s been a while since I’ve written here, and honestly, that’s kind of the theme these days. Life keeps moving, and we just keep moving with it.

Lately, I’ve found myself in this really reflective headspace. Maybe it’s watching Quinn grow as an athlete and a student. In the gym, she’s learning that success isn’t just about strength or flexibility. It’s emotional resilience, heart, grit, and the kind of quiet determination that shows up when no one else is watching. That mindset is translating into school too. She’s wrapping up her first year of middle school with straight A’s. Honestly, I couldn’t be prouder.

Then there’s Chase, who completely stole the show as Lucas Beineke in his middle school’s performance of The Addams Family. His commitment to learning the music, developing his character, and fully stepping into that role… it was something else. His duet with Wednesday makes me smile just thinking about it.

At home, Karen and I have been playing our ongoing roles as Mr. and Mrs. Fix It. She tackled a serious repair at the Coroco roastery, completely tearing apart and rebuilding a major piece of machinery. Meanwhile, I’ve been checking things off the never-ending home to-do list. We’re closing in on our 26th wedding anniversary this summer, and as fate would have it, this year’s “gift” is a brand-new pool heater. Because nothing says romance like calling 911 while your pool equipment catches fire. Karen spotted it first, thankfully, and while she was on the phone with emergency services, I was sprinting around the house shutting off gas lines. You know… normal anniversary season stuff.

On the business side, RK Digital is growing steadily, and in the best way. What makes it so rewarding is that many of the clients I work with aren’t just clients. They’re people I’ve known for 10, 15, even 20 years. They’re friends who’ve become family, and we get to do meaningful work together. Taking on Maaco has been a fun challenge — lots of creative, analytical, and strategic layers — but the best part? I’m doing it with a great friend. We both get that life gets hectic, and some days it’s okay to say, “Hey, let’s push this to tomorrow.” No stress. No ego. Just mutual respect and trust.

On top of that, we’ve just launched two new client websites, and seeing their vision come to life online is always a great reminder of why I love this work.

And because I clearly needed one more thing to juggle, I recently knocked out updates to both my Google Ads Certification and Email Marketing Certification. Just one more way to keep learning and stay sharp.

So yeah… life’s busy. But it’s good. We’re always moving forward. Sometimes with a plan. Sometimes with duct tape and adrenaline. But always forward.

Website Development from months to days

A friend reached out in a panic—his small business website had gone down, and the agency he contacted said it would take six months to fix. Six months? For a small business, that’s an eternity.

I told him, “Give me a day, and I’ll have you back up.”

The website landscape has changed for the better, thanks to the advent of AI. It brings a speed of development that was unimaginable just a few years ago, allowing businesses to get back on their feet faster than ever. 🚀💻

5 Tips on Using AI to Streamline Your Small Business Marketing

  1. Automate Your Customer Interactions

Ever feel like you’re drowning in customer queries? AI chatbots can help you stay afloat. These nifty tools can handle common questions, provide instant responses, and even guide customers through your sales funnel. By automating these interactions, you free up more time to focus on other important aspects of your business. Plus, customers love the quick response times!

  1. Personalize Your Email Campaigns

Gone are the days of generic email blasts. AI tools can analyze your customers’ behaviors and preferences, helping you craft personalized emails that resonate with your audience. Whether it’s suggesting products based on past purchases or sending birthday discounts, personalized emails can boost your engagement and conversion rates.

  1. Optimize Your Social Media Presence

Keeping up with social media can be a full-time job, but AI can make it a lot easier. Tools like Hootsuite and Buffer use AI to analyze the best times to post, the type of content that gets the most engagement, and even automate your posting schedule. This means you can maintain an active social media presence without being glued to your phone all day.

  1. Enhance Your Content Creation

Stuck on what to write about next? AI can help with that too. Tools like Copy.ai and Jasper can generate blog post ideas, social media captions, and even entire articles based on the topics you provide. While I wouldn’t recommend relying entirely on AI for your content, it can be a great way to get the creative juices flowing and save you from writer’s block.

  1. Analyze Your Marketing Data

AI analytics tools can sift through mountains of data to provide you with actionable insights. Whether it’s tracking your website traffic, understanding customer behavior, or measuring the success of your campaigns, AI can turn data into a goldmine of information. With these insights, you can make more informed decisions and tweak your strategies for better results.
